Case Summaries: Go to a law case website such as  https://caselaw.findlaw.com/summary.html (Links to an external site.).  Select “Education Law” in Category search.  Research 3 different court cases related to education.  Complete a summary of each case.  Include the plaintiff and defendant, a brief explanation of what happened, the verdict, and how can you apply this to your current or future role as an educational leader.  Follow the example below:
EXAMPLE CASE SUMMARY
Case 1: Flores v. Morgan Hill Unified Sch. Dist. (Links to an external site.), 324 F.3d 1130 (1st Cir. 2003).

Summary of Facts: Several students sued their former school district because they felt they were not protected by the district from anti-homosexual harassment.  This violated the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th  The students claimed they were treated differently based on the grounds of their sexual orientation.
Question: Did the principal and district violate the students’ 1st and 14th Amendment Rights?
Holding: The principal and the school district were found guilty of treating the students differently and acted with an unconstitutional motive.
Relevance: In the case, the principal has been accused of denying the student a right to attend the prom because of what he wanted to wear that expressed his sexual orientation.  The case provides evidence that damages can occur when students are treated differently and rights are denied based on sexual orientation and unconstitutional motives.
