collcetive agreement assignment

The assignment must not exceed 10 pages of double-spaced text. Using information provided in class, your textbook and the case, answer the following two questions. Each question is worth 50 marks.

1. The first question examines your bargaining teams strategy. Specifically answer:
What bargaining strategy did your team plan to use in the present round of negotiations? Explain your initial choice of strategy (in your analysis, include an assessment of the bargaining strategy you expected the otherteam to initially adopt).
What bargaining strategy did your team actually use in bargaining (provide examples of tactics used during bargaining that are consistent with your answer)? Explain why your team was (or was not) successful inimplementing its intended strategy.
What effect, if any, did the bargaining strategies used by both teams have on your team’s satisfaction withthe outcomes of the negotiation process and with the quality
of the relationship developed with the other team?
Do you think the other team was more, less or equally satisfied with the outcomes and relationship developed during negotiations? Why?
Based on your experience in the present round of negotiations, what bargaining
strategy do you think your team and the other team would adopt in the next round of negotiations? Why?

2. The second question examines your teams goals and the new collective agreement. Specifically discuss:
What were your teams priorities? Confine yourself to not more than 5 priorities Rank these hoped-for changes in order of importance to your team and explain your ranking.
Discuss how your hoped-for goals would affect the underlying interests of both your
team and the other team.
Were any of these hoped-for goals “bottom-line” or strike/lockout issues for your team? Why?
Was your team actually successful in negotiating these goals into the new collective
agreement? Why or why not?
What effect, if any, did the relative power of the parties have on the outcomes of your collective bargaining? Why? How could power affect any future negotiations between these parties? Why?
