Discussion: Advocacy Strategies

06Jan 2022 by

In your Learning Resources for this week, you read about health policies and how you might advocate either for or against these policies. In this Discussion, you will choose a policy and locate a program that was designed to address it. Then, you will describe the populations that are affected both positively and negatively by the policy, and discuss some changes to the policy that might benefit those affected. Finally, you will consider how the policy change and program align with Waldens mission of social change.
To prepare for this Discussion:

Review the CDCs National Organization Policy Resources (found in the Learning Resources) and select a health-related policy that you feel should be changed.
Consider how this policy might be changed in order to bring about a health-related behavioral and/or a cultural change.
Use the Community Guide (found in the Learning Resources) to find a program that addresses the policy change in an underserved population.

By Day 4

Post a comprehensive response to the following. Keep your Healthy People 2030 assigned health condition in mind.

Describe a policy change for which you could advocate that would bring about a health-related behavioral and/or cultural change.

Describe the populations that are impacted by this policy.
Explain how the program you selected aligns with Waldens mission of social change.

Note: Be sure to cite your supporting documentation appropriately in correct APA format.
