*Discussion Postings:These postings are not optional; they are worth 20% of your total grade. Before you write each post for the week, you should choose something relevant from the readings from Ways of the World (Strayer) for that particular week (be sure to include the page numbers from the textbook). This can be anything you think is historically relevant or important in a given historical topic (see the weekly topics listed in the Schedule of Lecture Topics in this syllabus). Then try to connect whatever that thing is to readings from the Module PowerPoint for that week. Ideally, the connection should demonstrate some sort of connection. You will have to identify what that connection is; for example, if you read about the significance of the “Industrial Revolution” in the readings for the week and you read about the “Industrial Revolution” in the lectures for the week, then that is an obvious connection. If you read about the same topic in both textbooks, this would be worth mentioning in your post. Ask yourself: what was similar about the discussion of the topic in the texts and the lectures, what was different? All original posts will be assessed by me and given a score of 0 to 10 points (see Discussion Post Rubric). Failure to follow the instructions for these points will result in 0 points be given for that post. Your Discussion grade will be based on how many postings you made out of how many postings were possible during the semester (this benchmark will be calculated using an assumed maximum total of 20 participation points earned per week). You are required to use complete sentences. Posts should be no less than 50 words and no more than 350 words.+ reply posts
