Discussion Week 10

This week, we watched at least two video clips dealing with mobility/migration. Using these materials with the readings, discuss how anthropology can help us understand undocumented migration. What are some of the ways in which anthropologists help to make sense of this complex issue? What/whose perspectives do these scholars emphasize and what data do they ask us to look at?  Post your evidence chart and 250 word reflection.

Illegal Encounters examines different stages of what they call “encounters” with the legal immigration system, the criminal justice system and the detention system. Think about what the “encounter” aspect of their analysis involves and what it means for many different social agents (migrants, politicians, enforcement authorities, etc.)
