Education Philosophy Statement

You will describe your emerging philosophy of education in 5 pages(not including the cover page and reference page).  You will incorporate into your exam essay: 1) references to authors we read this semester, and 2) insights gained from field observations.
If you agree with John Dewey that students best learn when both the social and psychological aspect are taken into account, then you should refer to his work in your paper.  If you agree with Paolo Freire that we must reconsider the role of the teacher in the classroom as one whom is both a teacher and a learner, then you should refer to his work in your paper.  And so on Your paper will be organized around the four questions we explored throughout the semester.  These questions are:
1.What is the purpose of school?
2. How do students best learn?
3. What is the role of the teacher?
4. What should be taught in schools?

Rubric
The paper follows the assignment requirements fully. The students emerging philosophy of education is thoughtfully presented with relevant references (at least two) for each of the four (4) sections of the paper. Paper is carefully crafted and has been edited for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
