Find two (2) departments in the state that you are wanting to test with of your choice. This is not fire station in the same department, but the actual department.  From where ever in the country you wish to test for.
Critical Criteria Failure to cover one of these could cause you to fail the assignment.You must cover the topic listed, the point total next to the topic is points taken off your assignment if you do not cover it. 
Discuss what drew you to the departments you are covering in the assignment? -5
What form of government is used to fund the fire department? Property tax/ mill levy/ fire district? -5
What is the growth of the department and city size? How many stations and firefighters have they hired in the last 5 years? What does the future look like for more stations, staffing, growth of the department? -5
How many stations, and what programs for the department are available (haz mat, heavy rescue)? What stations house each program? -5
What the salary and benefits packages are for the first 4 years (health, dental, retirement accrual) in Chart format. What will you pay each year in health benefits, retirement, vision benefits for you or family? -20 Not doing this part of the assignment will garner you an F for the paper
Are they a Union contracted fire department or a department that has a union? Is Union membership mandatory to be in the department? How long have they been IAFF members and what is the Local number? -5
What are the time constraints for testing in each rank (Firefighter, paramedic, driver, officer, Chief)? What educational requirements or certifications are needed for each ranks test? -5
