Folklorists have discovered that there are certain types of myths that are common to many cultures, with each having a unique variation that emphasizes values and traits most important to each society. In this activity, you will create a visual guide that explores a myth that appears in two cultures and compare and contrast that myth.

Step 1: Choose Your Own Adventure I WIll choose  my own adventure
Choose any two (distinct) cultures or societies. At least one of the cultures should be relatively foreign to you. Research online to find a type of myth both societies share. For example, many cultures have myths about a great flood, ethnogenesis myths can be quite similar in different societies, and of course almost any culture will have some version of a creation myth.

Step 2: Note the Similarities and Differences
For each culture, take notes about similarities and differences in their versions of the myths. For example, pay attention to the role of early humans, important characters and heroes, the roles of gods, the role nature plays, etc. Create a list of at least FIVE major elements that are either quite similar in both tales or quite different.

Step 3: Create a Visual Guide
Based on this list and your research, create some form of visual guide that explores the similarities and differences between these two cultures shared myth. Your visual guide should start with a short explanation of the two myths (possibly just a text description with a simple visual for each). You can use any visualization technique you prefer, but some suggestions could be:
Infographics

Illustrated chart/graph
Slideshow presentation with images
You should incorporate some exploration of what the similarities and differences reveal about the important values to each culture; this can be part of the main visualization method or structured more like your introduction (using mainly text with just one or two images).

Step 4: Submit Your Guide
Submit your word document, spreadsheet, image file, presentation slides, or any combination of documents that:

Briefly describes two version of a similar myth shared between two cultures
Compares and contrasts the myths using visuals
In some way explores or describes what this implies about each cultures values
