You have read about logical fallacies and practiced writing a few. Fallacies can happen in nearly every medium of writing, but no where do they happen more frequently than with conspiracy theories, where dots are connected where they shouldn’t be, and assumptions are made despite a lack of evidence.
To continue our examining logical fallacies, you will learn about conspiracy theories tied to the Denver International Airport. On the surface, the airport is like most others — large, crowded, and full of overpriced shops and restaurants — but some believe the airport was built with nefarious purposes in mind, and instead of hiding it’s true intentions, the designers put clues right out in the open for everyone to see.
To learn more, watch and read the following items:
“Illuminati, Lizard People, and Blucifer: The History of the Denver Airport Conspiracies” (Youtube)
“The definitive guide to Denver International Airports biggest conspiracy theories” by John Wenzel of The Denver Post.  (A PDF version has also been uploaded to this assignment page because the article may become inaccessible behind a paywall if viewed too many times).
Watch the YouTube video first to get more visual look at many of the theories. Afterward, read the article, which states both the theories and the “facts.”
Once finished, write a response in which you identify and explain the logical fallacies of the conspiracies related to the airport. While you do not have to necessarily state which specific fallacy was made (ex: “This is an example of a Red Herring!”), you should explain why the theory uses poor logic or what it fails to consider as a viable explanation. You do not have to respond to every theory, but pick 1-2 theories to respond to.
As always, write between 250-300 words, type the response in a separate document that you upload to Blackboard, and use MLA formatting. If you reference either or both sources, properly cite both in the response and in the Work Cited page.
