You are to select a tattoo artist and deliver a five minute presentation informing the audience about your artist. Your presentation should have a clearly defined position that you are trying to defend to the audience in addition to any general biographical information. A strong presentation will make a claim about the artist, present general life information about the artist and their work, and support the claim that is made. You will then entertain a brief Q&A with any questions from your audience. The Q&A is not part of the five minutes of your presentation.
–Claims about your tattoo artist can be related to their significance in the development of tattoo, their place of prominence in history or contemporary society, the thing that makes them unique, etc. Basically, you want to answer the question, “What do you want people to walk away with from this presentation”?

–This assignment is designed to continue to strengthen your formal presentation skills. It incorporates the use of a visual aid like Presi, and is designed to follow the thread of having clear claims that are well defended. A biography that simply traces the tattoo artist’s life can struggle to be focused and can leave the audience wondering as to the point of their having received the information. By focusing on supporting a claim in addition to providing biographical information, your presentation has a better potential to be clearly focused on sharing your insights – an important skill for your college experience and beyond.
