Overview of Chapter 8:  In Chapter 8, Cocaine and the Amphetamines, Goode critically examines the health effects and use/abuse patterns, research findings and controversies involving cocaine and crack cocaine, amphetamines and methamphetamines.  The chapter concludes with a self-account by Winston, a military veteran and crack addict.

Please respond to the following three questions:

1.  Summarize, critically analyze and compare the PBS video and article with information, research findings, perspectives and controversies presented in Chapter 8 regarding cocaine and crack cocaine.
 
2.  Critically analyze, and explain the health effects, use/abuse patterns, harm and controversies involving cocaine and crack cocaine, compared with the health effects, use/abuse patterns and controversies involving amphetamines and methamphetamines.
 
3.  Based on your analyses and comparisons above, and specifically addressing the case and account of Winston in Chapter 8, what laws and policies do you believe would most effectively address cocaine and crack cocaine and amphetamines and methamphetamines?
